The wooden Tabi shakuhachi is the outcome of three years of research into the physics of shakuhachi acoustics, bore construction and playing techniques, both traditional and modern. The bore of the shakuhachi is first precision cast, then fine-tuned by hand, resulting in a high-quality concert instrument rich in harmonic content and tonally balanced throughout, with agile response capable of dynamics from a whisper through to a thrashing breath. The wooden Tabi Shakuhachi is made in the traditional 1.8 length in the key of D, this being the worldwide standard for undergoing formal study with a teacher, and is suitable for all traditional and modern playing techniques.

Readily available in a range of Australian and exotic hardwoods all wooden Tabi shakuhachi come with a complementary hand-made leather utaguchi protector cap. I also make and sell beautiful handmade cases.
